When I start to level up another Shaman twink, I prefer to play an Ehancement Shaman. Why? Because Enhancement has the highest DPS for the least amount of resources.

Let’s take a look at the 3 available talent trees:

Elemental Tree

While you can dish out huge damage, all your abilities require lots of mana to cast. Another thing you have to keep your eye on. Also you will have a lot of useless spells since they are only viable for parties. But the biggest problem is actually that you will be undergeared: Since you have poor gear you have a lot of downtimes between the fights.

Restoration Talent Build

The tree that makes you a healer for your raid group – obviously useless for shaman leveling.

Enhancement Leveling Build

Now we’re talking! This is the best spec to use for shaman leveling. It has both, decent DPS and a high survivability. You will deal a lot of damage that requires no mana at all and your skill only need a little bit of mana. You can use the saved up mana to buff yourself, heal up or just avoid downtimes.

The Enhancement Shaman is a very straightforward build and there is no special strategy needed to use it. But I still want to give you some advice to boost your shaman leveling speed:

When you start your Shaman just pull the mob with Lightning Bolts and spam autoattacks. Use your Earth Shock whenever you can. Switch to Fire Shock once you have the Glyph for it.

Now, the strategy changes once you get t a higher level and get Stormstrike, Lava Lash and Dual Wielding. Put Windfury on both Weapons, pull the mob, then Stormstrike, Fire Shock and Lave Lash your victim.

It should be obvious that the Enhancement Shaman deals great DPS, is very mana efficient and has nearly no downtimes. Also you won’t be very gear dependant.
